Starling October 27, 1997 at 2:36 am

A starling flew in my window
I chased it out the door
And the Jewish boy swore
We’ll have violence and war
…tomorrow, starling

Starling on the brittle branch
Hip, hop, now turn
Gobble down your worm
What today shall I learn?
…or tomorrow, starling?

He landed on my chest, his claws ripped my skin
I knew that I was chosen, to take him deep with
He clenched onto my chest, placed his head upon my mouth
No matter what news he brings, a fires burns for him in my house

A mere black bird to others, he is my steadfast prophet
he forewarns of everything, he knows what will happen
His black silhouette slices the sky, as he steals from every nest
The mirror gloss of his wing reflects my impending death
…tomorrow, starling

A starling flew in my window
I chased it out the door
And the Jewish boy swore
We’ll have violence and war
…tomorrow, starling.
