They say love is love, but sometimes it’s hard to see
Especially for a gay couple, like you and me
Forty years together, and still going strong
But our future’s uncertain

Can’t help but feel like something’s always wrong
We’re stuck in LA, but we’re not free
Immigration laws, can’t you see?
We’re legally married, but that’s not enough
We’re scared to death, of being torn apart

We’ve been through it all, fought for our rights
But now we’re facing a different kind of fight
Separated from our families, far from our homes
All we have is each other, but even that’s unknown

We’ve paid our taxes, worked hard every day
Contributed to this country, in every single way
But our love is not enough, to make us belong
In the Land of Opportunity, where we’ve been for so long

We’ve never given up, and we won’t give up now
We’ll keep fighting for our love, everyday, somehow
We’ll stand together, in the face of adversity
And show the world, that love knows no boundaries

To anyone who listens we ask for your support
In a world full of hate, we need love of every sort
Let’s stand together, and fight for what’s right
And make this world a place where love can thrive
