In Australia May 3, 2007 at 3:37 am

A different sound

a different drum

beats from Australia’s

young.

Aboriginals, black as ebony,

painted white as ivory

in circles, spots, moons, rain.

And strife.

In Australia there was

a break from the past,

a continent somewhat flat

I bid you good tidings

Kosiusco and uluru

from the redder we move towards Perth.

As far away as you can be

from any city of meaning.

And the three great kangaaroos

The western and eastern gray

the great red

the great red sky

in Australia.

In Australia.
